Teaching Philosophy

I love teaching. I have been a teacher at one level or another for almost 15 years. I started out as an Americorps VISTA, and then became a tenth grade English teacher through Teach For America. As a professor, I have taught a range of courses at the doctoral and graduate levels.

My commitment to equity in education goes beyond my research and extends into the classes I teach. My primary goals are to support my students in thinking critically, writing clearly, and conducting research that makes the world a better, more equitable, and more just place.
